The sun has a profound impact on our lives – on how we see ourselves and on how we feel. It not only produces light, but it also plays a major role in comfort and safety inside a vehicle. My name is Andreas. I work at BF Engineering, where we develop solar simulation systems. Our aim is to bring real outdoor weather conditions directly into the climatic test chamber. Our system typically consists of a lighting frame equipped with multiple lamps. Inside the climate tunnel, extreme conditions prevail – which is why we rely on highly durable and reliable components. In our control cabinets, we use WAGO components because they withstand these demanding conditions exceptionally well and are highly reliable. When the vehicle is positioned on the rolling road, we recreate various climatic conditions – wind, heat, cold, rain and even snow – so that, together with solar simulation, we can reproduce outdoor situations as accurately as possible. When we switch on the solar simulation, you can immediately feel the intense energy it generates. For me, a project is successful when everything meshes seamlessly – when everything works reliably in the long term. That is what makes me proud and happy. The insights gained from these tests help make life safer and more comfortable.
