Hello everyone, my name is Meike. Today, I'll introduce you to the innovations in our Gelbox portfolio. Since 2020, we have offered our Gelboxes for 221 Series Splicing Connectors, 4 mm2, 6 mm2 and for 2273 Series PUSH WIRE® Connectors for Junction Boxes. As you surely know, moisture lurks everywhere, especially while wiring in outdoor areas. And not just in rain or cold, but also when you have very high temperatures and high humidity. A typical application example is the lighting in the garden or wiring a pump in the pump shaft. If this wiring is not protected, it leads to errors in the installation very quickly. WAGO's Gelboxes offer optimal moisture protection for splicing connectors per IPX8. The new inline splicing connector from the 221 Series gives you the option of wiring directly in one direction For inline wiring, we now also offer you moisture protection. And these are our three new variants for the 221 Series Inline Splicing Connectors: One box for two connectors, one for three connectors and one for five connectors. Here, we are following the same concept and design similar to the existing Gelboxes that you can see in front of you. How do I use this box? I open the housing at the two side tabs. Now I see the housing filled with silicone-free polyurethane gel. On one side, there are T-bars in the housing, which help with positioning the connectors. I now insert the wired connectors into the housing and push the connectors firmly against the gel mass. I then close the box on the two side tabs so that they lock correctly. At the front of the sealing lip, gel leaks out and I can make sure that the box is really moisture proof. When using our Gelboxes, it is important to consider the allocation table to optimize gel displacement and ensure high IPX8 protection. Specifically, this means for the Gelboxes for our inline splicing connectors that I cannot insert only one connector into the Gelbox for two connectors because then the displacement of the device is too small and moisture will enter. If you want to change your wiring after the initial installation, this is also possible with the Gelbox. This is because the Gelbox is re-accessible. To do this, open the Gelbox again at the side tabs and try to remove the gel from both the connectors and the individual wires. Later, you can save yourself the need to shorten the cables. However, it is important that you have both a new Gelbox and new connectors because these two components cannot be reused. Behind me, you see an application wall where the Gelbox is shown for the wiring for an LED spot. In the low-voltage range, a secondary insulation is mandatory because only the single strands are protected with the Gelbox, but not the sheathed cable. In fact, there are also so-called SELV applications in which the secondary insulation is not required. One example is the wiring of a limiting wire for the robotic lawnmower. The Gelboxes for the 221 Series Inline Splicing Connector are ideal for wiring in one direction, while providing fast and easy moisture protection for the clamping unit. It offers you a wide range of possible applications – whether for parking lot lighting, washing facilities, landscaping, gardening or swimming pool areas. So test the new boxes for your applications! See you soon!
